The Var department experienced an exceptional drought situation in 2022: it started at the beginning of April with the outbreak of the vigilance stadium throughout the department. All of the watersheds were then placed until December 15 at the various stadiums of drought: alert, reinforced alert and crisis.
For 2023, all indicators suggest an even more tense situation than last year. After a first consultation of the water resource committee (CRE) of the department, the first measures are taken to save the resource.
The municipality of Grimaud is placed in drought vigilance until October 15, 2023. Here are the recommendations made for individuals:
• Be vigilant on secondary uses (watering, cleaning of cars, filling pools, etc.),
• Use the strict amount of water required,
• Search for leaks,
• Set up rainwater recovery systems for watering,
• Favor economical watering techniques such as drip,
• Limit its consumption in general
• If the regulations in force provides for a metering system, to note meters at monthly frequency. The prefect may prescribe the communication of data for the last three years to the water police department.
