Civil sponsorship, also called Republican baptism or civil baptism is intended to bring the child into the republican community and to make it adhere symbolically to the republican values.

It has no legal value and does not bind sponsors and / or godmothers by a contractual relationship.

It is a moral commitment of a purely private nature.

This approach can be carried out near the municipality of residence of the parents of the child.

Documents to be submitted to the population service:

• birth certificate of the child
• photocopy front and back of the ID of the godmothers and / or sponsors
• ID of the parents
• Proof of parents' place of residence

a date of the ceremony will be agreed with the population service
